Pit safety is everyone’s responsibility whether you own, manage, insure, ride or work on the elevator. Everyone is affected in the event of injury or death in an elevator. Pit accidents kill both authorized and unauthorized personnel whether they have a working knowledge of an elevator or not. PitSafe® greatly reduces these types of accidents and deaths occurring in elevator pits due to activities such as retrieving lost objects or performing maintenance within the pit.
Elevator pits are notoriously dark, dangerous, and confined spaces. Entry to the pit requires looking for and turning on the pit lights prior to physically entering. However, the elevator pit stop switch may not have been activated to take the elevator out of service, allowing the elevator to unexpectedly descend and cause serious injury or even death within the pit.

Safety by design. PitSafe® utilizes fail safe switches and circuitry to insure against component failure. The design further controls movement of the elevator by others while workers are present in the pit, it also incorporates Oil & Water Alarm monitoring to further enhance flood safety and environmental cleanup.
This pit safety and maintenance station encompasses all elevator code requirements for safety and lighting devices within the pit.
